This case is closed

Finally... the computer case is finished. The pickup date is August 7. I only made one mistake that jeers at me every time I see it... but there are so many parts of it that I love that I have decided to let it go.

The laptop sleeve slides right into the outer bag. The fit seems just right - wide enough to slide the sleeve in easily, slim enough to hold it in place.


One thing I love is the little vintage button on the front pocket flap. Between the design, color combination, and the single visible opening, it was the perfect touch for this bag.

And now? I am ready to take on a bag... purse... anything that doesn't need tweaking!

A case for laptops

I did some e-shopping last night searching for everything available in laptop cases. It was a learning experience. I discovered that the really nice bags have computer sleeves - a padded case within the case. And, depending on the price you pay, they are loaded with all types of pockets, snaps, zippers and straps. I have a standing order for a laptop case, so I took a few notes on what seemed most important.

I spent today trying to turn my notes into a usuable product. This computer sleeve is the first step in the adventure. Add a strap and a closure of some kind, and it's on to the outer bag!


Sure hope the recipient of this case has her heart set on sleeves... and straps... and pockets!

Ready to go

Two more bags are ready to go. I love these fabrics. (That sounds familiar. Have I said that before?)

How much fun would it be to take this beauty to the library? Or... load it up with life's necessities and use it as a purse?

Although it doesn't sparkle in the picture, this fabric has a metallic print that makes the bag a feast for the eyes. The lining is sprinkled little golden bees.


My stack of fabric is turning into a collection of remnants. Hmmmm... what I can build with those?

My bag

There are advantages to working the bugs out of new designs - you have a prototype that someone has to use. This time, it's me!

Here is the newest design. By the time it was complete, I had a list of things to do differently on the next "copy" that I make. But in the meantime, I have this unique cHim-pouch that smiles at me every time I look at it.

Really... doesn't it just look happy with all that loopy trim?

I just love working on these bags. The feel of the fabric, the colors, the finished product... I do hope they cause someone to "cHim."

What a day!

Did you ever have a day where everything went ... right?!!! I am almost giddy wondering what to start next while I'm on a roll.

This morning I finished my purse project. I have been putting off the final stitching, just sure that my machine would balk at the multi-layers. Amazing... it zipped together just like it should and here is my finished product.

I have been working on a cupboard project for a few weeks. It is a new (for me) process that involves many layers of paint, complete drying between coats, multiple sandings... today was the day I finally got past the base coats to the lovely blue topcoat. After hours of drying time, I cautiously started sanding back... It works!! I'm loving it!

My altered books session with the 10 yr-olds has been postponed one week and scaled back to card making. This takes the get-it-done-now pressure off my sample book, so I'm looking for additional bird items that are unusual, or pictures that are beautiful just to please my eyes. I found my bird hose guide snuggled up against some newly opened daffodils. Perfect picture.

I could go on ... really ... I could... This day has been wondrous. But I'll stop and hope that tomorrow is your day.

Good Friday

How is it, on a day set aside to remember the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, I can get so caught up in minor irritations?

I have a sewing project cut out and ready to start... and and my sewing machine will NOT sew!


It is Good Friday. It is the second full day of spring... yet it looks like this out my back window!


So, I decided to take pictures to share all this ummm, crumminess with you. I got the shot of the snow and was passing the front door, on my way to get the picture of the uncooperative sewing machine, when someone pounded on the door. I put my camera down, opened the door and a man handed me a big green box full of this...

What a reminder that God is intimately involved in every area of my life. From the huge (forgiveness of my sins provided by Jesus' death on the cross) to the minute (my frustration over my stalled sewing project) He meets every need.

So, thank you Lord for salvation, flowers, friends and the frustrations in life that remind me to keep my eyes upon YOU.

We love him, because he first loved us. I John 4:19

Making gifts

My latest creations - inspired by Homemade by Jill. Don't ask how I found this blog... I have no idea! She had a tutorial for making baby burp cloths and for some reason I was inspired.

I copied her pattern,

blew the dust off my sewing machine and stitched up 8 of these!

Are you wondering why I did this? Leah had a baby on January 6th, Kylie Jessica. Now if I can just get these in the mail....
